The floral richness has been one of the biggest assets of India since the ancient ages. The greater importance and respect of trees and animals have been taught here for centuries by Vedic teachers. According to recent survey of Ministry of Environment and Forest, there are more than 20 % of total land covered by forests in India. Every Region of the country is enriched with numerous national parks, which serve as the house to thousand of floral species.
Floras In the floral aspects, Indian Eco zones are classified into Western Himalayas, Eastern Himalayas, Assam, Indus plain, Ganga plain, Deccan, Malabar and the Andman Island. These Eco zones along with other vegetation areas of the country have 45,000 thousands of species of plants, among them 15000 are flower plants. All floral Eco zones are blessed with diverse floral assets that is result of varied topography.
The Western Himalayas in the country are cluttered with Pine, Deodar, Spruce, Silver Fir and Junipers. While, the Eastern Himalayas are pervaded by Oaks, Laurels, Rhododendrons, Dwarf willow, Alder and Birch. Widely, this Eco region is famous for its flowers and different kind of rare herbs. Dense forests and open forests in the Assam region are full of tall grass and many species of Bamboo.
Indus plain and Ganges plains are extremely fertile, and offer very rich vegetational plants. Deccan region are full of scrubs, and dense and semi dense forests, which are home to many species of endemic flora. Malabar region is famous for growing commercial crops like Tea, Coffee, Coconut, Betel and Pepper. And Andaman Islands are dwelt by evergreen, mangrove and beach forests.
