Enjoy Aloha at Lawai Beach Resort - One of the Best Kauai Vacation Rentals

Hawaii has been my home since the mid 1980s and to me Kauai, which is one of the oldest of the eight main Hawaiian Islands is also the most beautiful.

This bit of paradise features the Lawai Beach Resort, located on Poipu Beach.

The Lawai Beach Resort is quite unconventional in a lot of ways that we'll take a look at in a moment.

  • The one thing that everybody agrees on is that this resort offers spectacular views.

  • Any Hawaiian vacation has the potential to be spectacular.

  • During the winter the daytime temperature rarely drops below the mid 70s. Most of the time it seems to be in the low to mid 80s.
  • In the summer it's rare for the temperature to rise above 90 degrees.
  • This tropical climate creates lush greenery.

  • The leaves of some small potted plants that struggled to stay alive with me when I tried to grow them on the east coast can loom over your head and be as big as your arm on the Hawaiian isles.

All of this makes any of the Hawaiian Islands suitable for year-round vacationing.

I think that when a lot of people see Hawaii in their mind's eye they are envisioning the island of Kauai.

It's ragged knife-edged cliffs, which hug many parts of the coastline, look awesome silhouetted against the setting sun. It's beaches are pristine. It's sands are soft and white.

There are many great Kauai hotels and the Lawai Beach Resort is just one of the Kauai vacation rentals available on this island.

What makes the Lawai Beach Resort special

  • The Lawai Beach Resort is rather unique because it's made up of condominium-style accommodations instead of traditional hotel rooms. They range in size from single rooms to large suites.

  • Each of the accommodations has extra features like a washer / dryer, a kitchen with a refrigerator and, in some cases, a stove.

Some are just steps from the ocean and have breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.

There's a lanai off of each master bedroom so you can relax outside and enjoy the cool ocean breeze and the beautiful views.

  • The gardens that surround this particular Kauai lodging are filled with orchids and coconut trees. The Pacific Ocean and Lawai Beach are just outside the resort.
  • If you don't want to swim in one of the three swimming pools or relax in the hot tub you can snorkel in the ocean next to giant sea turtles.
  • There's a rooftop cafĂ© that serves affordable meals in a casual dining atmosphere and a recreation center with exercise equipment and pool tables available to the guests.
  • There's a tennis court atop the Coral Building and there's even an 18-hole mini golf course.
The nearest shops are a short 10 minute drive to Koloa.

  • One thing that may surprise you is that there is no air conditioning. But that's also true of most of the homes on the Hawaiian Islands and quite a few of the Kauai vacation rentals because there's rarely a need for it. Often the trade winds keep you cool and comfortable.

    Potential drawbacks

Even paradise can have its challenges. There is a large population of indigenous chickens and roosters on the island and they can awaken you rather early.

Also, there's a quiet-time policy at the Lawai Beach Resort after 9 PM, so it might be more attractive to retirees than to singles, young couples, or families with teenagers.

However, the beauty and amenities of these Kauai vacation rentals can't be beat.
