There are many small and delightful islands around the main island of Phuket. You can reach these islands in one or two hours from Phuket. Many of the islands provide great sites for scuba diving and snorkeling, and some of them have nice beaches for relaxing.
Phi Phi Islands is another attraction for the tourists. It is located in the Krabi province of Thailand. The white sandy beaches provide total relaxation. This island is actually made up of two islands, Phi Phi Ley and Phi Phi Don. Phi Phi Don has accommodation and a lot of sporting activities like scuba diving, snorkeling along with guided tours but Phi Phi Ley is uninhabited. These are the second most popular islands after Phuket.
Similan Islands are a group of 9 islands. These islands attract divers as well as non-divers. Similan Islands are considered to be one of the best diving spots in the world. For those who are not into diving, they can go for treks in jungles or just relax on the clean sandy beaches and enjoy the breathtaking view of the ocean.
Surin islands are situated near the Burmese border. It is a chain of five islands. They have great marine life. Sharks can be seen in the waters around these islands along with manta rays. Only one island provides accommodation for tourists and visitors. The islands also have great hiking places and one can enjoy the flora and fauna in the jungle.
Krabi is one of the most relaxing places on the planet. Stunning scenery, fantastic white sand beaches, a coastline with over 200 islands and a jungle covered interior revealing towering limestone cliffs, caves, waterfalls and exotic wildlife. What more can you ask for.
