Since twenty years the area has also developed their infrastructures for the under 30 crowd with discotheques, nightclubs and low cost dining. A highlight is joining this summer - a beach just for women.
After Triest where since always exists a beach division at the famous “Bagno Laterna” now also in Rimini women can take a bath in privacy. Where? At Beach no 134 on the 50-mile stretch of coastline linking Rimini to Riccione are welcomed with a large sign of a macho man covered with a pink cross saying "No Men". The beach on Italy's Adriatic Coast, outlaws all men. And what is different to “Bagno Laterna” even mothers with children cannot access to this beach. "They are not really banned, but they are not welcome there because women have to do their own thing: gossip, talk about women's things like make-up. They have to stay in their own world."
Beach complex owner Fausto Ravaglia said: Men are not welcome in the beach.
Healthy salads and fresh fish make up the beach club menus, while lessons in deportment, manicures, pedicures, keep-fit classes and cookery lessons from a well-known chef are the order of the day. While fitness instructors and the beach DJs are all women, the rules have been broken for one lucky male specimen - in the lifeguard chair.
Fausto Ravaglia, the owner of the beach and the businessman behind the idea to ban men, said: "The lifeguard must be a man. You clearly need a man to save women in the sea. It's a question of muscles." For information about the best accommodations on the Adriatic Coast check:
